At the Department of Nephrology, Nagoya Kyoritsu Hospital, we diagnose and treat diseases of the kidneys.
The department treats patients with continuous hematuria or proteinuria, chronic nephritis, kidney failure, and nephrotic syndrome. Working closely with other clinical departments within Nagoya Kyoritsu Hospital and surrounding medical institutions in the area, we make an effort to provide the optimal treatment for patients.
The kidneys eliminate excess salt and fluids from the body and excrete waste materials. When Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) progresses, it cannot be handled with drug therapy and dietary therapy alone, and the body is unable to maintain its internal balance. As a result, symptoms and findings such as nausea, loss of appetite, itching throughout the body, swelling, anemia, and decline in psychological state appear.
When this condition progresses further, life cannot be sustained, and the functions of the kidney need to be substituted. This condition is known as kidney failure. When it has progressed this far, the function of the kidneys cannot be recovered. As a result, available treatment methods are hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and kidney transplant. It is important to understand the respective methods, select the method that matches your lifestyle, and prepare accordingly before reaching the point of end-stage kidney failure.
