Department of Neurosurgery
We make detailed explanation of the treatment procedure to patients from their standpoint.
Our Principles
Our department continuously makes an effort to treat cerebral diseases in our community. We provide 24-hour emergency treatment and consistent, team-based rehabilitation to return to society..
We also focus on the treatment of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and hyperlipidemia as a method of first-line prophylaxis for cerebral diseases. For developed cerebral disease, we provide surgical treatment. We perform magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), angiography, and blood flow studies whenever they are required. For the surgical treatment of various diseases, we make use of surgical microscopes and navigation systems.
Before starting the treatment, we make detailed explanation of the treatment procedure to the patients from their standpoint.
Features of Our Treatment
Following the initiative of the Honorary Director Sasaki, we provide acute-phase treatment in various neurosurgical fields (including cerebral stroke, skull base surgery, meningioma, acoustic nerve tumor, diencephalohypophysial tumor, spinal tumor, neurovascular decompression, trigeminal neuralgia, and facial spasm).
Our chief goal is to improve and maintain our patients’ quality of life (QOL) and to increasingly provide more reliable and less invasive care.
We use positron-emission tomography (PET) as well as MRI and computed tomography (CT), for quantitative diagnosis. We perform safe and accurate surgeries using surgical microscopes with up-to-date neuronavigation devices, and also perform morphological monitoring (for instance, with the use of angiography). We also perform surgeries using electrophysiological monitoring of the auditory brainstem response (ABR), motor evoked potential (MEP), somatosensory evoked potential (SEP) and facial nerve evoked potential.
The center also provides neurological assessments, dementia care, and second opinions on various diseases, whilst always striving to offer gold standard care.
We perform gamma knife treatment for complex conditions, in collaboration with our hospital’s Department of Radiosurgery. Following acute-phase treatment, we provide advanced and stable medical services, in collaboration with the Kaikoukai Rehabilitation Hospital (a rehabilitation facility) and the Kaikoukai Josai Hospital (a recuperation facility).
On top of this, we provide aggressive measures for the treatment of complications following dialysis and for the treatment of vascular disorders in patients undergoing dialysis treatment, in collaboration with the hospital’s satellite dialysis clinic.
